Sacred Heart Girls’ High School celebrated “The Letter – A Message for Our Earth” on 2nd December 2025 to promote environmental awareness, inspired by Laudato Si’, the environmental encyclical of Pope Francis that calls the Earth our “common home.” The programme began with a prayer service led by the Class 10 students, focusing on environmental conservation and the harmful effects of plastic usage, along with eco-friendly alternatives. This was followed by a powerful mime performed by the students of Classes 9 and 10 (EVS). Through silent expressions, the mime highlighted life before plastic, the damage caused by plastic pollution to humans, animals, and marine life, and concluded with a hopeful message showing sustainable alternatives such as cloth bags and steel bottles. The programme successfully created awareness among students and staff, reinforcing the message that everyone has a responsibility to protect the environment. The event effectively conveyed Pope Francis’ call to care for the Earth and inspired the school community to take small but meaningful steps towards a greener future.
